Inspired by my children and their endless fascination and enthusiasm for small, found and foraged items in the natural world; colour, recurring shapes and texture are built meditatively and subconsciously through multiple layers of paint.

The ambiguity of the shapes allows the viewer freedom for their own interpretation based on personal perception and experiences. Form and composition are explored through the relationships between positive and negative spaces and their interaction within the confines of the canvas.

Partial, transient forms become submerged, ghostlike, beneath the surface as though waiting for discovery.

Whilst the overall artworks are abstract, they aim to create a feeling of whimsical nostalgia, a recollection of childhood treasures, and hopefully a remembered wonderment for small, simple things.
